Polish School

polish2

Polish Saturday School started classes from Oct 2009 with 80 children aged 5 to 14 years. Children are taught Polish language, history and geography.

Curriculum is adapted to children age and language skills. As a Polish language is a GSCE and A levels subject we are looking to help children wishing to take exams in their English schools.

Currently we have 4 classes and we started 2nd year. We are employing 6 Teachers and have 3 volunteers. The school is also a great contact place for parents looking for help and advice, education etc.

We would like to organize English classes for parents, to give them the opportunity to develop their skills and help them to gain employment. There are still graduates working in factories and we would like to help them stand on the palace where they should be.

Giving children the opportunity to learn their native language helps reinforce their strong community relations and citizenship. They know who they are, where are they are from and we know what they can offer to the British Society and community. It is not about separation but about integration and cohesion.

A poem in Polish and English called Holiday Song by the Newcastle Polish Group - Wakacyjna Piosenka. This group was set up by SES and involves teaching children and parents English and organise events and trips.

Piosenka Wakacyjna

1) Lato w internecie ogłoszenie dało,
kto chce się z nim spotkać,
ten ma czasu mało.
Trzeba wyjąć rzeczy, kóre w szafie spały,
na tę ważną chwilę cały rok czekały.

Ref.: Plecak, torba czy walizka,
bez nich w podróż nie wyruszysz.
Choć dźwiganie nie jest miłe,
smak przygody wszystkich kusi.   2x

2) Wielkim pakowaniem żyje każda chata,
wszyscy chcą wyjechać na spotkanie lata.
Wyruszyć w nieznane, stare kąty zbadać,
odwiedzić rodzinę, uściskać, pogadać.
Ref.: 2x

Holiday Song

1.    Summer gave advert on the internet,
Who wants meet him,
Doesn’t have much time left.
You’ll need to take all your things
Which were sleeping in the wardrobe?
Chorus: Backpack, bag or suitcase?
You can’t travel without them.
And however carrying isn’t nice thing
Taste of adventure attempts all. (2x)

2.    Great packing up is living every home
Everyone wants to meet the summer.
Meets unknown, see old corners,
Visit family, give a hug and chat.

Chorus: Backpack…….. (2x).
