Introduction
SES are making a vital contribution to the Governments agenda on economic recovery and the Big Society with efforts that stimulate enterprise through out the North East. SES specialises in nurturing enterprise and has been supporting the start-up and growth of business and social enterprise for some 28 years. We are a Social Enterprise Company based in the North East of England with an excellent track record in servicing small businesses and supporting social enterprise and many hundreds of people have been helped by SES to start and grow their own small business.
In the UK we have a growing number of social entrepreneurs. This is a genuine growth sector with 1.7 million people involved in social ventures at any one time, the highest number in western Europe. We have established businesses trading in socially beneficial goods and services to generate profits and improve lives. There are 62,000 such social enterprises in the UK with a combined turnover of £24 billion. In addition, since the economic downturn began 56 percent of social enterprises have seen an increased turnover when only 28 percent of traditional SME's found an increase.

SES has a set of values, skills, products and services that are more relevant than ever to the emerging policy drivers giving SES a greater potential to seize the new opportunities available to UK business enterprises.

SES Resources
Knowledge limitations can be a harsh reality for many organisations operating in the social enterprise sector. But a clear understanding of the resources that are available – and how to acquire them – can be a distinct advantage on the road to sustainability. After all, the key factor in Social Enterprise is all about long-term survival, and in order for individual enterprises to become sustainable, they must develop their organisations meaningfully over time. To do this means continuously searching for new opportunities to create revenue, as well as for ways to improve existing products and services. Therefore whatever your experience is, start-up or longer term support, passing on your knowledge will not only assist in the creation of new Social Enterprises, but will help existing organisations move up the ladder
