FORUM SET TO HEAR NEW COUNCIL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
Businesses in Hendon and the East End of Sunderland can find out how to win contracts from the local council at a free event.
The Hendon and East End Business Forum has invited officers from Sunderland City Council’s procurement team to explain how smaller businesses can access more opportunities.
The business forum was launched last year to give a collective voice to companies in the area, generate new business and to help promote more inter-trading.
Members are already getting help with access to funding packages, free business advice as well as benefiting from free networking events.
The next Hendon and East End Business Forum meeting is set to take place at Thompsons Training Rooms, Thompsons, The Parade, on Wednesday, January 27th. Guests can arrive from 4.30pm onwards for a 5pm start. The buffet is scheduled for 6pm followed by networking with a 7pm finish.
All businesses in the area are invited to attend this free event.
Members of Sunderland City Council’s procurement team will give a presentation, which will include changes in the procurement process which has made it simpler for local companies to win more business, followed by a question and answer session.
Business counsellors from Hendon-based enterprise company SES will also be present as part of a wider campaign to support companies in the area with the support of Back on the Map.
SES director Kevin Marquis said: “We urge local business owners to come along to the next meeting to hear of changes that could open up new opportunities for them in 2010. The meeting will be informal and informative and worth investing a little time in.”
The Hendon and East End Forum has been developed by SES (sustainable-enterprise-strategies) as part of a major campaign to boost enterprise in the city. The campaign is funded by Back on the Map, the New Deal for Communities regeneration programme for Hendon and the East End of Sunderland.
